Short answer
VAT = net amount × rate / 100. The net amount from a gross amount = gross amount / (1 + rate / 100). In Lithuania the standard VAT (PVM) rate from 1 January 2026 is 21 %, the reduced rates are 12 % and 5 %, and some supplies are taxed at 0 %. The calculator rounds to the cent, as on an invoice.
How VAT is calculated
- From a net amount: VAT = amount × 0.21 and the gross amount = amount × 1.21 (at 21 %).
- From a gross amount: the net amount = amount / 1.21, and the VAT is the difference.
- Each invoice line and the total are rounded to the cent.

- 5 %: reimbursed and prescription medicines, books, periodicals and assistive devices.
- 0 %: some supplies, for example exports and supplies to a VAT payer in another EU country.
- The reduced 9 % rate was abolished on 1 January 2026.
